Love you a latte

I've been crazy busy this past week. The twins' birthday is approaching and we are celebrating with a party. I really should be spending all my crafting time preparing for it and yet when I found out that LD was releasing a coffee-and-tea themed Valentine set, I couldn't help but stop everything and start cutting.

I have been waiting for a set like this from LD for a very long time. Back in 2011 I had asked LD for a cut of a to-go cup and while they did include one in the Coffee simple shapes (which I love), it was nothing like the new "Love You A Latte". My heart leaped for joy when I saw the set. It was cute, lovey-dovey, and punny! This set is so up my alley!

To make today's card, I used Silhouette Studio Designer Edition (SSDE) to modify the face of the to-go cups. I wanted them to look super happy so I replaced the original face with one from a mug in the same set. I also enlarged the sleeve by about 10%  so that it does not shrink after putting it through the crimper. I used the "Release Compound Path" command to replace the face and to enlarge the sleeve without enlarging the entire face.

The picture below shows a screen shot of my virtual mat. For this hybrid card, I printed the base and paper-pieced the cups.

Here's the finished card.
